17. The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky
This is one of my favourite books of all time, and it was just as good the second time around. This one actually is somewhat life changing. I heard that they are making it into I movie, but I don’t think I’ll be able to watch it, the book is too special. It is sad, and beautiful, and infinite. You will cry, and laugh, and never be able to forget Charlie or his letters.

16. This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I struggled with this book. Since it is not so much a story, as a character study of Amory Blaine, I found it really hard to get into. I did like the beginning and the ending, but the middle took a long time. Looking back though, it is not that bad of a book. It wasn’t life changing either.

15. Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins
This was probably my least favourite of the three, but still a solid ending for the series. It didn’t end all that happily, but probably very close to what would have happened in real life. No more spoilers, go read it. And I really need to get to that movie..

14. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
I liked this one better than the first Hunger Games book, it was more exciting. Also, it ended with a cliffhanger so I really have to stop typing and get started on the next one…

13. A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

This book exceeded my expectations as to what fantasy can be. It was fantastic and I can not wait to read the rest of the series. Well written and fast paced. I recommend it, even for people who don’t like fantasy.

12. Les Trois Mousquetaires by Alexandre Dumas
So I actually read this for school, but since it was a good book and I actually read it, It should count. It was a short version, but it was actually in french so… Anyway, exciting book, it’s interesting that a lot of it is based on actual historical events. The movie is completely different, still good, but the storyline in the book is better.

11. The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg
So I don’t usually read crime novels, but since this was the group read choice for the 50 book challenge I thought I would give it a try. It was surprisingly good, and I couldn’t wait to know who the murderer was (which resulted in much less homework getting done than is probably wise). Overall, not bad at all. I’ll have to check out some mysteries more often.

10. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

This book was not bad, but not exceptional either. I really liked the old pictures, but sometimes it felt like parts of the story were purposely written to fit the pictures. It maybe would have been better to not try and do that so much. The story was, however, fairly entertaining, although I didn’t find it too scary.

The lecture that inspired A Universe From Nothing.

9. A Universe From Nothing by Lawrence M. Krauss
So apparently it is quite possible for a universe to arise from nothing, in fact, nothing is unstable so something will almost always come from it. There is no need for a creator. This was an interesting book, it really makes you think.
